A sheriff from Hall County, Georgia (USA), was arrested after driving his patrol vehicle with a blood alcohol level three times above the legal limit.
According to authorities, Sheriff Gerald Couch was arrested around 10:30 a.m. last Friday (27) for driving under the influence. A breathalyzer test indicated that his blood alcohol level was three times above the legal limit.
While being questioned by colleagues, Couch said he had been drinking and “messed everything up.” He admitted drinking around 6 a.m., but claimed he had not had anything to drink since 8 a.m.
Authorities found two open alcoholic beverages inside Couch’s vehicle. The sheriff was taken to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office jail but was released overnight after posting bail. It is still unknown whether he will be suspended from his position as sheriff.
